What We Do

Bridging the gap between youth and civic life

We create meaningful, nonpartisan opportunities for young people to engage with government — meeting local elected officials, learning how decisions get made, and building the confidence to have a voice in it.

Local & Community-Focused

We are based right here in Kitchener-Waterloo, working within our own community to make local government more accessible to young people.

Who We Are

Founded by local KW students

Youth Government is run by Shaun Goyal and a team of local Kitchener-Waterloo students.

Shaun Goyal

Founder

Shaun founded Youth Government to connect young people in Kitchener-Waterloo with local politicians and civic life, hosting the organization's first official event with MPP Aislinn Clancy. He's an active community volunteer, from the City of Kitchener's Parks Youth Engagement Committee and BikeCheck program to youth programming at the Kitchener Public Library, and has been featured on CBC for his work.
